Born and raised in the small Victorian town of Beaufort, Marietta loved to create, paint and draw from an early age. Hailing from a highly creative family, her great Uncle received an Order of the British Empire for his contribution to pottery, while other members of her family are creatives and artists in their own right.

Nevertheless, her country-town, working class upbringing was a stark contrast to a career in the arts and the idea of forging such a profession often felt unrealistic, if not impossible. Consequently, she completed a double degree in arts and commerce and established a career in positions of senior management as well as businesses in HR consulting and hospitality.

After an unexpected family loss in 2021, Marietta returned to painting, primarily as a means of emotional therapy and solace. With a desire to create works more consistently and avoid future regrets, she enrolled in Art School and completed further studies in Creative Visual Arts in an attempt to find and express her artistic voice.

Now producing a combination of landscape works and abstractions, Marietta’s colour conscious, evocative pieces are frequently influenced by her organic surroundings and are typically created instinctually. Supported by her further studies in Positive Psychology & Wellbeing, Marietta is fascinated by the ways creative expression enhances physical and mental health and happiness.

Now working from the sanctuary of her studio near Bells Beach, Victoria, Marietta’s works have been exhibited across various galleries and exhibitions within regional Victoria. Marietta was the winner of the 2023 Surfcoast Community Arts Competition and lives with her husband, 2 active boys and Bruno, their naughty Portuguese Water Dog.
